Puppy Socialization will get your puppy started on the right track by conditioning them to engage with humans, dogs and the rest of the world thoughtfully and confidently. Your puppy’s final socialization period ends when they are just 12 weeks old! This means that you have a very small window once you bring your puppy home, to introduce them to various sights, sounds, surface, objects, people and animals. However, socialization isn’t just about exposing your puppy to as many experiences as possible, there is more to it than that. Socialization is about teaching your puppy to relate positively to these experiences which leads to creating a confident puppy who is excited about exploring the world. When a puppy does not have a healthy amount of positive experiences before their socialization period ends, fear can develop which may lead to your puppy being stressed by their surroundings and reacting when facing these them in the future! In our Puppy Socialization Program we focus on forming positive associations to a variety of experiences. This program focuses on teaching your puppy to relate positively to: - Other puppies and humans (through controlled play and exposure) - Sounds (fireworks, thunderstorms, vacuums etc.) - Surfaces (wobbly, elevated, moving etc.) - Objects (brooms, strollers, bikes, shovels, rakes) - Shaping (teaching your puppy to problem solve!) - Grooming and Handling - Crate Training
